Questions

What is the family filter?

Before a page can load, your browser has to look up the name of the site, the way you would look up a name in a phone book, to find where the site lives on the internet.

A family filter is a phone book that refuses to look up sites you would rather not see. You can choose from:

To check where a link leads, Halal Mode makes that same lookup through the family filter you chose, then removes whatever the link belongs to.

What if it misses something?

Use the three dots on the picture and choose "Hide this". Halal Mode learns from it.

Does it watch videos?

It looks at video thumbnails and the text around them, not at videos as they play, and it is designed to leave video calls alone.

Can I turn it off?

Pause from the tray icon for 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or until you resume.
